The Public Register Search Service

When it comes to protecting your rights over a domain name, it helps to have as much information as possible

That’s where our Public Register Search Service (PRSS) comes in. This useful tool allows you to search the .UK, .cymru and .wales registers for exact and similar domain names, as well as domains that are registered to a particular registrant. This could be used for:

  • Establishing or defending intellectual property rights over a domain name
  • Gathering information for any domain name disputes, or investigating and prosecuting possible offences, such as false identities and fraudulent websites
  • Carrying out academic research and government functions

The PRSS is updated every day and also allows you to search using wildcards. You can view up to 21,000 results per week, with the results viewed in batches to make things more manageable. The search tool also allows you to store regular searches as favourites, and keeps a history of your last 1,000 searches for quick and easy access.

If you’ve subscribed to the PRSS, you can access it by logging into your Online Services account.
