Tackling Criminal Activity In .UK – Twelve Month Report

18th February 2016

Nominet has today published an update on .UK domains suspended for criminal activity over the 12 months to October 2015.

The criminal activity report shows that 3889 .UK domains were suspended between 1 November 2014 and 31 October 2015. This compares with the 948 suspension put in place over the preceding 6 month period and represents less than 0.04% of the 10 million .UK domains currently registered.

Nominet suspends domains following notification from the police or another law enforcement agency that the domain is being used for criminal activity.

The report also provides an update on domains suspended and blocked under Nominet’s offensive names policy, introduced in May 2014 – just one suspension was put in place over the 12 month period covered by this latest report.
