About the .UK Registry Advisory Council (UKRAC)

Nominet created the .UK Registry Advisory Council (UKRAC) to give members a greater voice in how .UK is run. The Council plays a vital role in fostering the long-term, sustainable success of the .UK namespace, ensuring it remains safe, secure and competitive.

The UKRAC consists of up to six Nominet members that are elected by members on a one member, one vote basis. The Council is chaired by an elected Non-Executive Board Director or other Council Member elected by the Council. UKRAC members serve a two-year term and can be re-elected, limited to four years within any six-year rolling period.

The role of a UKRAC Member

The following table explains the role of a UKRAC member. The UKRAC currently meet virtually, and the UKRAC members will decide the best location and format of their meetings going forward.

Remuneration Members of the UKRAC shall receive a per diem payment of £500 for participation at each formal UKRAC meeting, as well as reasonable expenses.

UKRAC Election 2024

This year’s UKRAC elections will commence in April.

Nominations will shortly be called for three of the six council positions, one from large registrars, one from mid-to-small registrars, and one from the secondary market. Look out for further information about these interesting and important roles that enable members to help shape the future of the registry. You can view a preview of the form here.

The timetable is as follows:

  • 2nd April – Launch call for nominations
  • 19th April – Close call for nominations
  • w/c 22nd April – Announce candidates & engagement activity commences
  • 20th May – Voting opens
  • 7th June – Voting closes noon (BST)
  • 10th June – Once available, results will be communicated to candidates and then members

The Code of Conduct for Councillors of the .UK Registry Advisory Council provides guidance to the councillors as to what may and may not be considered acceptable conduct.
