Your Learning and Development

At Nominet we are committed to creating an environment where everyone can develop and grow personally and professionally.

We believe that development is something that each person owns and drives for themselves.  You are the best person to understand your development goals and ambitions, as well as what you might need to do to operate at your best both now and in the future.

We enjoy a broad range of tools and resources to support your development, across a range of circumstances including;

Identifying and creating your personal development plan

Technical resources

Core skills to be more effective in your current role

Best practice Management and Leadership skills

We know you are an individual and learning isn’t one size fits all. So should our resources internally not meet your specific development ambitions, you may be able to access learning externally. Whether that be a professional qualification or specific technical training that Nominet would look to support you with.

You’ll choose us for the job description, but we hope you’ll stay for the development of your career and skills. All we ask from you is a willingness to push yourself forward and take ownership of your pathway.

You can apply for one of our jobs by using the search functionality at https://jobs.nominet.uk/

Once you have found the role you are looking for, hit apply. You’ll be taken through a short series of questions and you will have the opportunity to upload your CV and a relevant cover letter (if requested).

Our recruitment team look forward to reviewing your application.

We don’t accept speculative CVs but if you want to be kept updated on new vacancies you can register to receive job alerts.

We’ve kept our recruitment process concise and slick, much like how we operate our business.

For the majority of roles you will experience an interview with one of our Talent Acquisition Team, which is recorded, followed by an interview with the hiring manager. Depending on the role there may also be technical tests or a follow up interview with a senior member of the department.

The recruitment team welcomes your contact throughout the process. We’re human beings and we want to help you through this, because applying for jobs can be gruelling. Feel free to email us at [email protected] with any questions.

We would love to be able to offer work experience or summer placements, however unfortunately we don’t have any work experience opportunities at Nominet right now. Should we be able to in the future we will likely share it on LinkedIn – follow us on LinkedIn here.

In most cases our interview will include some questions to verify your work history and competency for the role.

For positions of a more technical nature, you will be asked technical questions and there may be a technical assessment. Our Talent Acquisition Team will let you know what to expect when the interview session is booked in.

For all roles we assess candidates against our values and how we work at Nominet. Keep these in mind when preparing for your interview. Learn more about our values.

All our employees will be subject to a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check upon joining the organisation, regardless of role. This is due to the rise of the number of people with access to the Public Services Network (PSN) connected networks, the BPSS has become an essential tool in government services recruiting. We will process and pay for this on your behalf when you join us.

You can find out more about BPSS checks and what is required as part of this.

There are some specific roles that require Security Clearance, but our Talent Acquisition Team will inform you if that’s the case.

We have a hybrid working culture: some staff work in the office, some remotely, and some do a bit of both. We are sure how we all work will evolve as restrictions relax.

Should you be successful in joining the Nominet team, we do encourage new joiners to visit the office during induction to get a feel for our home.

Speak to your Talent Acquisition Partner about remote working.

The majority of our employees are based in the UK, with some based in Australia. We are not considering hiring outside of these locations at this time.

Our social impact strategy is built around supporting young people facing challenges in a digital age, and we shape our programme and projects around meeting the issues related to connectivity, inclusivity and security. Read more on our Social Impact strategy.

As the national registry and a piece of critical digital infrastructure, Nominet is also delivering a critical service to the nation and has developed cyber security expertise that is being used to protect government infrastructure and networks. Our staff are rightly proud of the positive impact Nominet has on the UK and beyond, recognising that their work for us contributes to that.

Nominet is a vibrant technology business, eager to stay ahead of the game and keep developing, while delivering a world-class service to the millions of people who rely on our infrastructure. Our staff are bright, hugely knowledgeable and hardworking, we all vibrate on the same frequency and really care about what we do, which makes it an inspiring and creative place to be.

As a relatively-small company we have retained our core values – and we know how to have fun. From small treats to all out social events, Nominet has so much to enjoy away from the desk.

We firmly believe that Nominet can only achieve its potential if every member of staff is at their best.

We want to nurture and develop our talent and every member of staff is on a journey of continuous personal development. The process includes external training opportunities, secondments and support in the areas an individual flags up to us – we provide the tools and resources for our team members to take ownership of their own development agenda.
