9th April 2014

Nominet, the company best known for running the UK name space, is today announcing the opening of its London office, on Rivington Street in the heart of Tech City. Nominet London will be focused on research and development as we continue our diversification efforts.

Our London office and staff will benefit from its central location, building new connections and collaborations with exciting companies, start-ups, entrepreneurs and developers in the area.

Simon McCalla, CTO, Nominet commented, “The new office signals Nominet’s intentions to broaden its scope and make a real difference to the way we use the internet, not just in the UK but on a global scale. Nominet already plays a critical role in providing a trusted online home for millions of British businesses and consumers and our R&D team supports our vision for making the internet even more secure and reliable in new and innovative ways.”

Adam Leach, Director of Research and Development, Nominet added, ”We’re hopeful that our R&D team will grow and develop into a hub for digital innovation and look forward to learning from and working with peers and industry leaders in the Tech City area and beyond. Being part of the thriving developer community and understanding the needs of those building the next generation of internet applications and services is vital to ensure that we can continue to be a key part of the internet infrastructure in the UK and globally.”

We are already working on the development of innovative new projects including software that spots trends and anomalies in the domain name system and tools to analyse the security of domain names.
